Album Review Three

For my third album review, I will be doing one that’s a personal favorite of mine. This album is one that is very well known and it is, Rodeo by Travis Scott. This album is Scott’s first studio album and arguably his best. This album was released September 4, 2015, and it is now certified platinum.

Travis Scott is an artist who is considered to be one of the best in the rap industry right now. He is well known for his background beats and how well his voice fits over those beats. He is known for a slower pace of rapping and harmonizing over such beats. This album perfectly embodies Scott’s style of rap.

Some of my favorite songs from this album include: “90210” ft. Kacy Hill, “Nightcrawler” ft. Swae Lee and Chief Keef, and “Impossible.” In “90210,” Scott talks about his come up in the rap industry and his past relationships. But, what makes this song so intriguing is Scott’s tone and the background instrumentals that parallel with it. The song in the beginning is very slow track and Scott talks about how he originally couldn’t find success, but as the track progresses the beat stops and immediately the beat picks up. Scott then begins rapping about his early success in the rap industry. In “Nightcrawler,” while it could be argued that this isn’t one of the best songs on the album, this song is easily the catchiest and shows Scott’s range and potential. In “Impossible,” the meaning of this song doesn’t tie into the message of the album as a whole, but the background instrumentals of this song and the pace makes it worth mentioning.

This album is a personal favorite of mine and I would highly recommend listening to it when possible. It’s an album that you can play any of the songs and they will be really good.
